Celebrating 10 Years of The King's Foundation Future Textiles
In celebration of The King's Foundation's Future Textiles programme celebrating its tenth anniversary, this exhibition tells the story of Future Textiles and the talent it has nurtured over the last decade. Future Textiles was first initiated by His Majesty The King in 2014 to help address a skills gap within the UK textile industry and, since then, more than 7,000 people have benefitted. The scheme, with supporters such as CHANEL and NET-A-PORTER, offers a range of courses from weekly sewing and knitting groups, to intensive programmes producing a ready to wear collection.
It was a true honor to speak at the exhibition's opening night, celebrating 10 years of the The King's Foundation Future Textiles programme. As a graduate of the Modern Artisan programme, I've seen firsthand the incredible impact this initiative has had on aspiring designers and craftspeople across the country. The opportunity to hone our skills, learn from industry experts, and showcase our work has been invaluable.
I'm incredibly proud to contribute to an exhibition that showcases the talent and craftsmanship this programme has nurtured. The pieces on display are a testament to the dedication and passion of the Future Textiles participants, each one a unique work of art. From intricate embroidery to bold, vibrant prints, the collection highlights the breadth of techniques and styles that have been cultivated over the past decade.
The Future of Textiles
Looking to the future, it's clear that the work of The King's Foundation will continue to be crucial in supporting the next generation of textile artists and designers. As the industry faces ongoing challenges, initiatives like Future Textiles provide a vital lifeline, equipping people with the skills and confidence to thrive.
